D-Day Experience Tours

A private, personalised excursion with a local tour guide who will take you to the most interesting sites :  D-Day, Operation Overlord and off the beaten tracks. Discover the battlefields you’ve always wanted to see, or the ones you’ve never heard of. Relive what happened in the battle of Normandy from the begining to the end.

Enjoy the tour in a comfortable, air conditionned spacious vehicule for one person or a group up to six people. Possibility to provide a large van for party of 8 persons. The excursion can also be guided in your own vehicule, be it a private car or a coach. Last, but not least, to really take your time, hiking tours are also available !

7 years of guiding, 27 of passionate interest for World War 2 and aviation ! Choose a different kind of guiding. Individual research retracing a veteran’s or a unit’s progression can be added. The proposed tours not only tell stories about the battle of Normandy, but also put this massive event into the context of the 2nd World War.

Tour options: half day, full day, two full days or longer on the sites of your choice. Various pick up places such as airports, train stations, B&B’s, harbours (ferries or cruise ship) or transfers from one place to another. Recommendations can be made to prepare your stay as organised and suited to you as possible.

Sly was by far the best guide I have ever had. I have been lucky enough to travel to all the continents in the world and many countries with various guides. He brings great knowledge and passion to his tours. He is adaptable to the needs and wishes of the group. We had several special request and he worked to make everything go exactly the way we requested. I would be very surprised if there is a better guide in the entire Normandy area. Sylvain Kast is a WONDERFUL tour guide!! Our group of 8 arrived in Le Havre in September 2013 early in the morning.  Sylvain was waiting for us and had a day planned for Normandy.  When I  mentioned that I had an uncle who died on June 7, 1944 and was buried in France, Sylvain immediately  did research and TOTALLY tailored our tour following the footsteps of my uncle’s last two days on earth.  On that sunny day in September we could almost hear the roar of aircraft and the sounds of battle!  It was a truly emotional day!

Sylvain has an obvious love for his country and knowledge of history that combine to create an amazing and memorable day! Our group all agree that Sylvain is the best tour guide we ever had. He created a day we cherish and will never forget!

History came alive with you and the people you introduced us to, like Mr Marlin who remembered German tanks in his yard and G.I’s who saved his life when he was a boy of 11. Jeanette who kept the burials records (and my dad’s grave emplacement) at the little church in Saint Juan, the two  French women who embraced me at the cemetery in Besançon because « my papa died for France »… I remember the bridge at La File which my father’s regiment crossed a day before he died, the deeply forrested hill of the the lost batallion (with artifacts and foxholes still in place) and especially being able to lower the flag at Epinal  at « taps ».
